This is where I’m travelling to next and how you can help me plan for 2018

I NEED TO TRAVEL!

I feel like I’ve been cooped up for months now. Every day is work work work and no play at the moment. Still, I’m not complaining too much because a) with this shiny new site it’s been totally worth it, and b) I’ve got some amazing adventures coming up.

So far 2017 has been an incredible year of travels and it doesn’t look like I’m slowing down any time soon.

Some of my highlights this year have been learning to ski for the first-time in Switzerland, exploring the ruins of Petra in Jordan, going ice climbing with Lonely Planet in Iceland and walking the streets of Havana in Cuba to name just a few!

Understandably the year is whizzing by and soon I feel I’ll be sitting around the table at Christmas getting drunk off sambuca (yes, we drink sambuca at Christmas, we’re a weird family), but before then there’s still time for a few more trips.

It’s time to hit the road again!

Dubai

In less than a couple of weeks I’ll be jetting off to Dubai working on a new partnership with Teletext Holidays (yes, they’re still around!)

We’re going to be working on a few things together over the next year bringing you some new and exciting adventures from around the world and first up is Dubai.

I’ve never been to Dubai before so I can’t wait to see what it’s really like. From a photography perspective, I can’t wait to explore the city and to snap the skyscrapers and the cityscape. I’ve already got tickets to go up the Burj Khalifa so expect so epic shots from up there.

I know a lot of people wouldn’t consider Dubai as a holiday destination  but I’m fascinated at how they built a city in the sand. Obviously I’ll let you know how I get on!

Mauritius

I fully expect Mauritius to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip. I mean, how often do you get to go somewhere like that!? The best thing is I’m not even on my honeymoon!

I’m really hoping Mauritius will be one of the most relaxing weeks of the year. I’m on strict orders to relax so who am I to go against those?

Most of the time I’ll be horizontal at Heritage le Telfair lazing by the pool and soaking up the sun.

Saying that, I’m not really one for laying about doing nothing for a week, so I’m really keen to go diving and explore some of the island too.

There’s this particular place called Macchabee viewpoint that I’ve heard you can get some of the best views on the island so undoubtedly I’ll check that out!

Dominica

When it comes to the Caribbean I really haven’t done that much.

I’ve been to the Dominican Republic when I was a kid (which I’ll always have fond memories of because it’s where I fell in love with Harry Potter aged 12), and most recently to Cuba. And that’s it.

Wanting to travel somewhere a little different, I went for the unheralded island of Dominica.

Much like its neighbours, this place is famous for its beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters and more rum than you’ll know what to do with (obviously one of the reasons why I want to go!)

Also, I can’t visit the Caribbean without going diving, so I’m looking forward to exploring the underwater world too!

Thankfully Dominica was left largely unscathed by Hurricane Irma but I’m conscious of how the rest of the Caribbean fared, so if there’s anything I can do to help out while I’m there I will.

Help me plan next year and tell me where to go!

Very recently I had a client ask me “what are your plans for 2018?”

What are your plans for 2018!? The summer has only just ended! There’s still three and a half months to go before 2018 is even a prospect!

Still, it got me thinking, what are my plans for 2018? Where do I want to go?

That’s when I thought of you guys. Obviously I write this blog for you, my readers, so I thought you should tell me where I should go next year.

Mt Fuji, Japan

Let me know what countries and content you’d like covered and I’ll make it happen! I’m thinking maybe Japan…

Anyway, those are my travel plans for the next few weeks and make sure you let me know about next year in the comments below! I’m looking forward to seeing your suggestions here!
