Looking for some inspiration? Here are some of our favourite travel bloggers that you should follow this year!
2016 already promises to be another amazing year of travel for us at An Adventurous World (we recently spoke about our plans for this year, and we’re not going to lie, they’re pretty mahausive), but we’re not the only ones with big ideas this year.
To help inspire you on some of your adventures, we thought we’d round up some of our favourite travel bloggers that you should follow. Some of them we know personally (big up guys), and some of them we’ve never met before, but we think they’re all awesome at what they do.
We’ve gone for quite a varied list here with a focus on backpacking, blogging, design, music, and of course a huge emphasis on videographers.
Anyway, here are some of our favourite travel bloggers that you should follow this year.
Chris Stevens from Backpacker Banter is a real down to earth guy who’s obsessed with travelling on the cheap and living out his days on the waves. Chris has been living what he preaches for the past five years, and there’s no chance of him returning to the UK anytime soon. If you’re looking at planning a new trip, Backpacker Banter is full of useful advice and information, and Chris’s budget advice on how much it is to travel in a certain country for a month is invaluable.
Compass Chasers is a brand new blog from the cute couple Antonia and Pete. Both of them have been working in the travel industry for a number of years (in PR and marketing respectively), so you know you’re guaranteed good quality content. Also, Pete is a semi-professional photographer, and the imagery of this site really pulls through. We’re expecting big things from Compass Chasers in 2016.
Flying the Nest is a blog and YouTube channel from Australian vloggers Jess and Stephen who left everything behind to travel the world. Their blog is packed full of beautiful pictures of the two of them together (yes, these two look incredibly good on camera), but their main focus is on their YouTube channel. In a traditional vlog style, it is so easy to get lost in all of their adventures, and they just want everyone to fly the nest.
Joe Allam is by far one of the most creative and talented photographers/videographers around at the moment, and there’s no telling how far this kid can go. Focusing on filmmaking, you can tell Joe is an extremely technical videographer and editor. On his YouTube channel, there are a number of inspiring destination videos (Tokyo is by far our favourite), as well as advice and how-to videos on camera equipment.
Mollie Bylett is another incredibly talented individual. Like Joe, she has a number of strings to her bow, yet she’s probably best known for her singing and her modelling. While travelling around the world, Mollie films everything, and then use these videos as the backdrop to her songs (pretty cool, eh?). Mollie blogs about a number of things from beauty to fashion to lifestyle, but she’s planning on travelling a lot more this year so keep an eye out for her!
We actually bumped into Jono from See Something while in Belize, and we just loved how passionate about life this guy was. No matter if the cards were down (he was recovering from a shattered ankle when we met him), Jono always saw the positive side to things, and that shines through with his blog. With certain bloggers, they tip-toe around certain subjects, whereas Jono gives you all the nitty gritty truth to what life is really like while on the road.
Stop Having a Boring Life is the brainchild of the affable American Rob Lloyd, and it’s become a bit of a blogging behemoth with a number of contributors and a massive social following. Rob is pretty big on YouTube as well where he’s currently building a house on Little Corn island just off the coast of Nicaragua (if that’s not living the dream we don’t know what is).
Annemarie from Travel on the Brian is a German based blogger who’s scouring the world for the best places to visit. What we love about Annemarie is she writes about pretty much everything, on every platform, all in English (as a non-native language speaker that’s unbelievably hard to do). Also, Annemarie is a budding vlogger, and we really like her style on camera. Hopefully we’re going to be seeing a lot more of her this year.
Chloe Gunning from Wanderlust Chloe is a digital producer who’s slowly but surely taking over the world. With a background in radio production and events management, everything Chloe touches turns to gold, and since she first started blogging she’s been featured in a number of major publications. Chloe mainly focuses on food and travel, she’s great on camera, and she’s got one of the best Instagram feeds around too.
Looking for someone who says it exactly how it is? Then look no further than Tara Povey from Where is Tara? She’s a Kiwi Irish girl and when it comes down to her style of writing it is so honest it is refreshingly beautiful. Tara lives her life on the road, and when it comes to solo female travellers there aren’t many around like her. Also, Tara is a killer artist (we want to see some more art this year Tara!).
