The Founding Fathers of Bulgaria is a huge monument that commemorates the first Bulgarian Empire, an ever present reminder of the proud past.
Bulgaria Travel Blogs
These are all of my Bulgaria travel blogs at An Adventurous World
Bulgaria is a bit of a surprise package. Firstly, it’s got some really beautiful beaches (and a bouncing party scene to go with it!) which not many people know about. Secondly, there are deep dense forests with brilliant hiking trails to lose yourself on. And thirdly, the people are so warm and welcoming. Yep, it’s safe to say I like Bulgaria a lot.
When I travelled around Bulgaria I became a bit obsessed with finding colossal communist statues all over the country which led to me taking the best (and by far the most dangerous) selfie of my entire life. Take a look and you’ll see what I mean!
Below me was Buzludzha, the ex-communist headquarters in Bulgaria. As in 70 metres below. I was risking life & limb to take the ultimate selfie.
This is what it’s like hiking to the Rila Monastery, one of the holiest places in Bulgaria and home to over 1,000 years of history.
Are you doing the Seven Rila Lakes hike? From how to get there to where to sleep, this post it all about hiking the 7 Rila Lakes in Bulgaria!
